Such ingredients: all the good stuff that goes into our masks

Just like the recipe for your favourite smoothie or cocktail (margaritas, of course), having skincare that’s created from quality and natural ingredients makes all the difference.

At Such Skincare, we are really proud of the ingredients in our 100% natural products. So proud, in fact, that we popped them on the front of our packaging so the whole world would know just how much we love them. (Yes, we know we aren’t supposed to boast about our babies but come on, they are our firstborns!)

By carefully selecting pure, active ingredients from nature, our mission is to enhance your booty’s natural beauty one mask at a time. Here’s a little A-S of our ingredients to give you some insight into why each of these effective and potent yet gentle ingredients is the stuff your buns dream about, hun.

Aloe Vera

Often described as a "wonder plant", Aloe Vera is so much more than the aftersun goop of your childhood memories. Packed with calming and healing properties, this super green succulent has been a go-to ingredient for healing all kinds of skin issues for centuries.

The green goddess’ powerful combination of antioxidants (Vitamins A, C and E) can also help improve the skin's firmness, texture and hydration. Despite its tough exterior, it’s Aloe Vera’s nutrient and vitamin-rich interior that makes it one of our most loved ingredients and why you can find it both our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask and Australian Green Clay Bum Mask.

Arrowroot Powder

We all need a good arrowroot sometimes. And our bum masks are no exception. Coming from the root of a plant, Arrowroot has excellent moisture absorbing qualities and enables active ingredients to penetrate the upper levels of your skin. With its ability to absorb oils/sebum, Arrowroot Powder can reduce oil production, soften skin and dry out blemishes, which is why you’ll find it in our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask.

Australian Bentonite Clay

If a trip to Iceland’s Blue Lagoon is a bit of a stretch on the beauty budget, Australian Bentonite Clay might just be the nutrient-rich, naturally occurring ingredient your skincare routine needs.

With numerous benefits, Bentonite makes the skin incredibly soft. (Yes, we’re talking about the kind of softness that will have you feeling yourself.)

However, its real superpower is its unique ability to create an 'electrical charge' when it comes in contact with liquid. This isn’t the same kind of static charge that your favourite turtleneck gives you hair, but rather it helps to draw toxins out of your skin. This 'electrical charge' is also why we recommend you use a non-metal bowl and spoon to mix the masks as the use of metal is said to ruin the fun/detoxifying property of the clay.

You’ll find this magical ingredient in both our clay bum masks.

Australian Pink Clay

Your bum deserves to be pretty in pink. Australian Pink Clay, to be exact. This naturally occurring mineral is a beneficial skincare ingredient for all skin types, mainly dry and sensitive. Rich in Silica and other minerals, the core ingredient in our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask (what, no?!?) leaves skin incredibly soft, smooth and radiant. This ingredient may also help if you want to improve your skin’s elasticity.

Australian Green Clay

Ideal for oily, combination and acne-prone skin, Australian Green Clay is also a naturally occurring mineral that can help to restore balance to your bum (#selfcare). Its detoxifying superpowers work to absorb excess oils that clog the pores and can lead to acne and other inflammation. The minerals in the clay also help to strengthen the skin and can assist in repairing scarring which is why you’ll find it in our Australian Green Clay Bum Mask (guessed that one, didn’t you?)

Australian White Clay

Yep, you guessed it, we love Australian White Clay (Kaolin) just as much as its pink and green cousins. This naturally occurring clay mineral is used for all skin types, as it's mild, so benefits both acne-prone and inflamed skin as well as dry and sensitive skin types.

Whether it is helping to calm irritation, buff away dead skin or promote bright and radiant skin, this clay is effective at removing impurities from the skin without drying it or causing any redness or irritation. That’s why we put it both our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask and Australian Green Clay Bum Mask.

Calendula Flower

Anything that keeps our skin calm is golden in our eyes. Enter, Calendula Flower extract. Derived from the plant commonly known as the Marigold, Calendula has incredible skin-calming properties and improves the appearance of inflamed skin. Included in both of our masks, this ingredient is rich in antioxidants, making it super effective at softening the skin, reducing the appearance of scars and promoting firmness.

Chamomile Flower

Chamomile is one of the most ancient medicinal herbs known to humankind (yep, we’re talking fountain-of-youth old). Its ability to moisturise the skin while calming irritation, makes it a beneficial ingredient for nearly any skin type, particularly dry or acne-prone skin. You can unearth the Chamomile Flower extract potent calming properties in both our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask and Australian Green Clay Bum Mask.

Coconut Meal

Coconut is widely used in natural skincare, (including our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask) and for good reason. In addition to its beautiful aroma (which we go nuts over *wink, wink*), the skincare benefits of this cracking ingredient include beautiful moisturising effects, the ability to diminish skin imperfections and helping to remove dead skin cells, revealing smoother skin.

Dragon Fruit

As powerful as it is beautiful, Dragon Fruit is the fruit and ingredient in our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask, that’s extremely rich in Vitamin C: a powerful antioxidant effective at fighting free radicals to reveal bright, glowing skin. Dragon Fruit is also rich in Vitamin B3, which can improve the skin's surface and help protect against moisture loss.

Eucalyptus Leaf

Koalas aren’t the only little fuzzy lovers of Eucalyptus leaves. Widely used for its antifungal and antimicrobial effects, Eucalyptus leaf powder is also used for its ability to remove dead skin cells, revealing a fresher more even skin tone. It can also calm the redness on the skin which is why it’s one of our Australian Green Clay Bum Mask’s hero ingredients.

Kakadu Plum

Kakadu Plum is the Elle Macpherson of native Australian ingredients. It is SUPER!

Being a rich source of Vitamin C (identified as the world's richest source of Vitamin C, actually), it acts against free radicals, environmental pollutants while also protecting your skin from the harmful effects done by them. This little beauty also brightens the skin, evens out skin tone and increases collagen production, leaving your skin glowing.

Many products contain Vitamin C and Kakadu Plum, but by using this star ingredient in a more stable powdered form in our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask, it delivers all of its benefits.

Lemon Myrtle

Widely used by Indigenous Australians for centuries, Lemon Myrtle is a beautiful Australian shrub that showcases the beauty and power of the bush. High in antioxidants, Vitamin E, Calcium, Zinc and Magnesium, we’ve used its antibacterial properties (which are reportedly higher but gentler than tea tree oil) in our Australian Green Clay Bum Mask.

Oat Kernel Powder

Oats for brekky and your bum, we say. Oat Kernel Powder is a very safe ingredient with a long history in the treatment of dermatologic disorders. You’ll find this soothing ingredient, with moisturising and gentle exfoliating properties, in our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate can assist with several skincare issues including pigmentation, acne scarring, brightening and evening out the complexion. We’ve used the Extract Powder of this antioxidant-rich fruit in our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask to help hydrate the skin and stimulate collagen production.

Rice Powder

We’re big fans of gentle but hardworking ingredients, and Rice Powder is exactly that.

Perfect for sensitive and combination skin types, the powder acts as a very gentle exfoliant to gently smooth and slough away dead skin cells, leaving glowing skin behind.

Rice powder has a chemical structure similar to the ceramides found in the skin (lipids or fats in the layers of skin that help it to retain moisture), giving it moisturising and water-retaining effect and encouraging the production of collagen.

Rice Powder can be found in both our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask and Australian Green Clay Bum Mask.

Sodium Hyaluronate

Last but definitely not least, Hyaluronic Acid is a polysaccharide (a long polymer chains of sugars) that occurs naturally in the human body and works to support the body’s collagen production and maintain elasticity.

This incredible ingredient can absorb and hold water up to 1,000 times its weight, allowing it to replenish and deeply hydrate the skin. Sodium Hyaluronate is a water-soluble form of Hyaluronic Acid. Due to its smaller molecular weight, it can move more freely into the deeper layers of the skin.

We’ve included it in both our Australian Pink Clay Bum Mask and Australian Green Clay Bum Mask to help the skin to retain moisture, resulting in smoother, softer skin with a plumper appearance.
