Jojoba Oil

Why it's gentle enough for acne-prone, sensitive skin.

Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis) is technically a liquid wax, not an oil — and its molecular structure is remarkably close to human sebum, which is why it's one of the few plant oils considered genuinely non-comedogenic (won't block pores) even on acne-prone skin.

Why jojoba oil works for breakout-prone and sensitive skin

  • Non-comedogenic — because it mimics natural sebum, skin doesn't over-produce oil to compensate, which can actually help regulate breakouts over time.
  • Rich in Vitamins A, D and E, plus Omega 6 and 9 essential fatty acids, to nourish and support the skin barrier.
  • Naturally antibacterial and anti-inflammatory — gentle on redness, irritation and inflamed skin.
  • Lightweight, fast-absorbing finish — no greasy residue.

How we use it

Jojoba Oil is the base of both our Balance Oil (macerated with Calendula) and Brighten Oil (macerated with Kakadu Plum). We use macerated jojoba oil rather than a synthetic emollient base because it's genuinely multitasking — suitable for face, body, hair, lips and cuticles — in line with our belief in doing more with fewer products.

Is jojoba oil good for oily or acne-prone skin?

Yes. It's a common misconception that oily or acne-prone skin should avoid oils altogether. Jojoba's similarity to sebum means it's one of the exceptions dermatological research points to as suitable even for reactive, breakout-prone skin, rather than something that will clog pores or worsen breakouts.
